RWB Part 2

I really didn't think I was going to make it out for the second day (really the 1 actual show day, yesterday was the dress rehearsal).  But then a buddy of mine wanted to go so I pitched the idea from yesterday of parking in downtown Pensacola and biking over to the beach and we headed out.

Like typical summer time here, thunderstorms pop up randomly.  And one popped up right over Three Mile Bridge at the exact same time we were biking on it.  It actually felt good.  But I got soaked and I was left to just hope that my camera bag was water resistant enough (I'll find out later that it wasn't quite as water-resistant as I needed).

We made it out to the beach just as the Red Bull Airforce was starting their show.  Those guys are some crazy MFs.  Helicopters are meant to go upside down.  Blue Angels were up next and as always, they didn't disappoint.  And I got a few banger shots with the Yashica Mat 124G with HP5 (definitely going to be a few limited edition prints coming soon from this show).

We were actually supposed to meet a couple other people who drove out there at like 4AM.  We never found them.

Eventually, we biked back to the truck uneventfully and went home.

The next day I developed that roll of HP5 and knew immediately that some shots were print worthy.  A few maybe should've been, but... remember that thunderstorm we biked through? I got soaked enough that the film inside the camera got wet and the first three shots have a pretty wild look on them.  Some might say ruined, some might say a one-of-kind touch that is literally impossible to replicate.  I don't know maybe I'll make a couple prints of them.

This is enough for this blog post, I'll fill ya in on the darkroom printing in the next one.
